Our Story
The concept for this bracelet originated from a chain of events that happened in my life from back in 2018.
I had a cough that eventually turned into pneumonia and after some routine tests they found a cancerous tumor on my Pancreas. Within days of this diagnosis, I was referred to an Oncologist who gave me 3 months to get my affairs in order. They were scheduling me for surgery. At the time I was a father of 3 young children with a marriage on the brink of divorce. I was told that if I survived the surgery I had a 25% chance of surviving beyond 5 years. I was 48 at the time.
So I did what any normal person would do in this situation. I booked a trip to Greece. The decision to go was impulsive, but my now ex-wife refused to go and refused to allow me to take the kids… so I went alone, but I credit this trip to helping me survive the cancer and manage the divorce. I can’t explain why or how the trip prepared me, but it’s been over 7 years now and I wanted to come up with a special bracelet specifically for people going through a major life struggle. .
The Thimami (strength) bracelet is just that bracelet. We designed this for people going through divorce, cancer, addictions, loss of a loved one or any major life struggle. The affirmation is written in Greek and it is deeply personal. You can choose to share your affirmation or keep it private. On one side there is a Byzantine cross, on the other side there is an affirmation written in Greek.
We have added Kefi (happiness, mojo, excitement and passion) as well as Philotimo (friend of honor, doing good for your community and commanding respect from your peers) on this run. Each affirmation bracelet has the Byzantine Cross on one side and the affirmation on the other side. There will be other designs and colors to follow.
The bracelets are fully adjustable and can be worn with casual or formal attire. They are lightweight, low profile and sit comfortably on the wrist. We believe once you put it on you won’t want to take it off AND they make great gifts.
